Sistr Q&A with Emma Roberts

This week we’ve had the pleasure of interviewing the amazing Emma Roberts, founder of sustainable fashion brand Bird + Wolf. We ask her what keeps her awake at night and what daily rituals keep her sane. Have a read 👇

Paragraph on who you are and what you do

I am Em Roberts Founder & MD of Bird + Wolf. Bird + Wolf is a sustainable and gender-neutral fashion brand, utilising ex-army wear with embellished messages.

What was your first job?

My very first job was a hairdressing apprentice.

Do you have a daily ritual that keeps you sane?

Nope, I don’t really have a set ritual. I walk my dogs and go to the gym most mornings but allowing myself time to relax keeps me sane. This normally involves chilling out on the sofa with a large mug of herbal tea and my dogs and watching a movie.

What’s been your biggest career screw up/mistake?

I can’t say I have had one yet, to be honest. I’ve definitely made a few errors along the way but nothing monumental.

What advice would you give your 20yr old younger self?

Don’t take shit from a***holes.

What’s the worst & best advice you’ve ever received?

To be honest, nothing comes immediately to mind. I have had some incredible support from people whilst building Bird + Wolf which has and continues to help and encourage me.

Number 1 tip for nailing an interview?

It’s been a long time since I was in an interview, but I would say the number one tip is to relax and be you.

Have you ever had a mentor? If so what was the best thing you’ve learnt from them?

I’ve never had a mentor. When I was working in media in Soho in the 90’s there was no or very little camaraderie between women. There was never a mentor, male or female to encourage me. It was a big dog eat dog.

What keeps you awake at night and what’s your top coping method?

Coffee, sugar and the full moon. I’m generally a fairly good sleeper. I try not to drink coffee or caffeinated tea afternoon. I can’t do anything about the full moon!

Any inspirational books/podcasts/blogs/people you’re loving at the moment?

I listen to lots of lots of podcasts, Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul, Fearne Cotton Happy Place, Soul Chat with Lauren & Kristi… I have a whole library of podcasts to get through!
